  • The 3rd workshop on nuclear mass table with DRHBc theory

VENUE Online & Hanhwa Resort, Pusan

    PERIOD 8.26(Wed.) – 28(Fri.), 2020

    OVERVIEW

As the advent of new rare isotope facilities such as FAIR, FRIB, HIRFL, NICA, RAON, etc, we have much opportunity to resolve big questions in science. The forthcoming rare isotope facilities can produce exotic nuclei near the nucleon drip line. Exotic nuclei exhibit many interesting phenomena such as the change of magic number, shell evolution, giant halo, shape decoupling between core and halo.

The covariant density functional theory (CDFT) has been successfully applied to lots of nuclear phenomena not only in stable nuclei but also in exotic nuclei. Using the relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov theory with the density functional PC-PK1, the first mass table including the continuum has been constructed, where the neutron drip-line nuclei are extended compared with other mass models due to the continuum couplings.

After the mass table with spherical symmetry including continuum, now is the right time to construct an upgraded version of the mass table including deformation and continuum by using the up-to-date DRHBc theory, i.e., the deformed relativistic Hartree-Bogoliubov theory in continuum.

This series of workshop is devoted to the recent progresses on the mass table by the DRHBc theory and to forging an active scientific collaboration in this field. The first workshop of this series was held on Dec. 4-8, 2018 in Daejeon and Seoul, South Korea, hosted by Institute for Basic Science (IBS), South Korea and Soongsil University, with more than 30 participants.

The 2nd workshop on nuclear mass table with DRHBc theory was held in Peking University (Beijing, China) from August 22 to 23, 2019 with about 50 participants. In this 2nd workshop, many participants from new institutes joined the project and established research networks for the future collaborations. In the proposed 3rd workshop, we would like to present progresses of each group and discuss future plans. We expect that the 3rd workshop will boost the collaboration between Korea and China in this field. This workshop is also very timely because informations on the nuclear structure of heavy ions are essential for the scientific success of RAON when the collision experiments are performed in a few years as planned.

Topics of the proposed workshop include

    - Nuclear mass measurement and evaluation
    - DRHBc mass table: progress and perspective
    - Progress reports from Korean institutes (IBS, KISTI, SungKyunKwan U, Soongsil U., Pusan National U)
    - Progress reports from Chinese institutes (Peking U., Huzhou U., U. of Hong Kong, Beihang U., ITP/CAS, Nanhang U., Anhui U., Sichuan Normal U., Zhengzhou U., IMP/CAS, Southwest U.)
    - Convergence of Legendre Expansion of densities in the DRHBc theory)
    - Application of DRHBc with DJBUU and to other nuclear reactions
