Detailed Numerical Study on Cut-wire Pair Structure

We systematically study the transmission properties of metallic cut-wire pair (CWP) structure,using the transfer-matrix method and the commercial code, CST MicrowaveStudio. The electric and magnetic resonances of CWP structure are demonstrated by the effective medium analyses.The corresponding effective permittivity and permeability are calculatedfrom the complex scattering parameters using the standard retrieval procedure.In addition, the dependence of transmission properties and resonance frequencies on theperiodicities and the shape of CWP are examined. Moreover, the influence ofbackground medium, and the properties of dielectric spacer are also discussed.
