고등과학원은 우리나라 최초의 순수이론기초과학 연구기관으로, 한국의 기초과학을 세계적인 수준으로 끌어올리고자 1996년 10월에 설립된 과학기술정보통신부 산하 출연연구기관입니다. 현재 수학부, 물리학부, 계산과학부 세 개 학부로 구성되어 있으며, 총 20여 명의 교수진과 80여 명의 연구진이 순수과학 분야에서 세계 최고의 연구 성과를 일궈내고 있습니다.

Korea Institute for Advanced Study (KIAS) was founded in 1996 by Korean Government to promote research excellence in the basic sciences.
