Weyl semimetals have pairs of topological band crossings called Weyl points and exhibit chiral anomaly, which gives rise to negative longitudinal magnetoresistance and planar Hall effect. Here we study Kramers-Weyl semimetals with a single Weyl point and show that they exhibit strange transport properties that are proportional to E dot B and reminiscent of the chiral anomaly despite the fact that there is only one Weyl point. We introduce the concept of the helical anomaly to capture Berry phase effects. We demonstrate that the strange transport properties can be explained in terms of the helical anomaly. We also study spin currents in the Kramers-Weyl semimetals.
