  •  [KCMS] Korea CMS postdoctoral positions

    Deadline on Apr 7, 2023

    Job description:

The Korea CMS collaboration consists of 10 institutes. We participate in leading roles in top quark physics programs and searches beyond the standard model including dark matter searches and heavy-ion physics data analyses as well. The Korea CMS team is also heavily involved in the muon system of the Resistive Plate Chamber (RPC) and Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM). We recently joined the effort to contribute to the phase 2 upgrade for the MIP Timing Detector (MTD).

The team has an immediate opening for several postdoctoral researchers. We are seeking outstanding candidates who have obtained (or are about to obtain) a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics. Positions for two years are available with the possibility of an extension.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to data analysis and Phase-2 upgrade in one of the following areas:

        - Rare processes in top quark physics programs

        - Searches for dark matter and long-lived particles

        - Endcap Timing Layer of MIP timing detector

        - Muon system (RPC and GEM)

The candidates should also work closely with graduate students and undergraduate students and take on a leadership role in the area described above. The positions are based in Korea (Seoul or Daegu depending on your topic) with possible traveling to CERN or based at CERN if necessary for the team activity. Priority will be given to candidates with both significant hardware and data analysis experience.

The review of applicants will begin on April 7th and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should send their curriculum vitae and a statement of research interests in pdf format, to Prof. Tae-Jeong Kim (taekim@hanyang.ac.kr) and Prof. Chang-Seong Moon (csmoon@knu.ac.kr). Three letters of recommendation should be arranged to the same email address.

For more information, please contact Prof. Tae-Jeong Kim or Chang-Seong Moon
